About

Open Science opens powerful pathways for sharing research results. It is data-driven and promotes responsible conduct of research and the effective circulation of scientific knowledge. Community-agreed principles—like FAIR, transparency, and reproducibility— are guiding thoughts.

Supportive research environments are emerging: infrastructures, repositories, catalogues, and strong capacity-building initiatives that enable dissemination, innovation, reuse, commercialisation, and education. Yet, the research landscape keeps evolving. That’s why the different stakeholders of the research ecosystem reflect continuously and discuss guiding thoughts, especially as new developments arise, such as the interplay with artificial intelligence, data ethics, and security.

The GATE supports growing our research capacities alongside these changes to foster trustworthy innovation and research. In this context, we developed the GATE with the a forward-thinking vission and mission:

GATE’S VISION

capture (via GATE Service) and continuously inform (via GATE Report) Open Science stakeholders about practices, services, developments and guiding thoughts defining the current and future Open Science ecosystem and thus

enhance the knowledge of various Open Science stakeholders allowing them to observe, align, comprehend, and adjust to changes and innovations in the evolving Open Science field to ensure innovative, efficient, trustworthy, and reliable research and

support existing initiatives.

GATE’S MISSION

provide guidance for capacity building (new as well as updating existing capacities) by assessing and communicating the identified developments in Open Science
facilitate holistic knowledge exchange on Open Science among various stakeholders of the Open Science community (knowledge creators, registers & infrastructures, policy makers, funders, meta-researchers, and further Open Science communities)
connect communities and visualise the pathways between them, thus support sustainable access to capacities and promote the hosting databases.
